1st Colonel (Coldstream Guards) (Late) 26th Colonel of the Regiment (Coldstream Guards) (Late) 27th Colonel of the Regiment (Coldstream Guards) The description given for this picture:
2nd Lieutenant Henthcote-Amory of 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards was the tallest officer at six foot and one and a quarter inches tall.
The drummer is John Marshall, an orphan, picked up by the Regiment on manoeuvres near Swindon in 1893, whilst following the troops.
The officers of the Regiment placed him in the Gordon's Boy School, there he became a cornet player from whence he was received into the 1st Coldstream Guards as a drummer boy. The bugler in the centre belongs to the Coldstream Guards and is wearing the white drill jacket, his white leather belt supports the band sword seen on his left hip.
The drummer boy on the right is from the Grenadier Guards and is wearing the scarlet tunic with white lacing.
The band sword can be clearly seen. The Chelsea Pensioner's uniform has not altered from that date. The medal they are admiring is for service in the Crimea War of 1855. 28th Colonel of the Regiment (Coldstream Guards)
